I. Product Introduction

This instrument is suitable for determining the water permeability of various types of geotextiles. It is a specialized testing device designed to measure the rate of water flow through geosynthetic materials and their composite products in the direction normal to the plane of the specimen. Under specified test conditions, it determines the volume of water flowing vertically through a single layer of geotextile.

Reference Standards: ISO 11058:2019, ASTM D4491/D4491M-22

II. Design Features

1. The entire instrument is constructed of imported 304 stainless steel, while the worktable is made of imported special aluminum alloy with a sandblasted and anodized surface treatment, providing excellent rust and corrosion resistance while keeping the overall unit relatively lightweight.

2. Water flows upward from beneath the specimen, eliminating a water-level drop and preventing the formation of air bubbles, thereby ensuring accurate test results.

3. Equipped with four flow meters for precise control of the hydraulic head difference.

4. The maximum flow rate can be controlled up to 5 L/min, enabling accurate measurement of the water permeability of single-layer geotextiles.

5. A water tank is installed at the top of the instrument to meet the testing requirements of specimens with relatively high water flow rates.

IV. Test Procedure

1. Prepare and condition the geotextile specimen according to the specified test requirements.

2. the specimen between the upper and lower clamps, ensuring that the specimen is flat and properly positioned.

3. Fill the water system and remove any air bubbles from the test circuit.

4. Adjust the water flow and hydraulic head difference to the required test conditions.

5. Allow water to flow vertically through the specimen and wait until the flow reaches a stable condition.

6. Record the water flow rate and corresponding test conditions.

7. Repeat the test as required and calculate the average result.
